The Importance of Maintaining CTA Membership While On Leave of Absence
Maintaining your CTA membership during a leave of absence is critical because:
- CTA members will keep their eligibility and continuous years of membership for the Death & Dismemberment Plan.
- CTA members and/or their spouse/domestic partner eligible for the CTA Well-Baby Program can continue participation for their entire pregnancy and three months postpartum.
- CTA members participating in the Auto and/or Home Plans provided by California Casualty's A+ Auto & Home Insurance can continue their coverage at CTA exclusive rates and without an increase in premiums.
- Participation in the CTA Group Legal Services Program requires that membership be maintained while legal assistance is being provided.
- Participation in the CTA Advisory Panel on Endorsed Services requires membership at the time the incident occurs and continuously through the date the Panel makes its decision. This is a free process that allows any unresolved complaint with a CTA endorsed vendor to be adjudicated on the CTA member's behalf.
CTA recommends membership category 3A for members who go on a leave of absence. The reduced dues amount of this category was implemented to accommodate the member's possible financial issues while on leave. For membership year 2010-11, the NEA amount is $49.25; the CTA amount is $174.25 and the local chapter establishes the local dues.
Please help us inform local members of this opportunity to maintain CTA membership while on leave of absence. CTA Member Benefits is a strong component of the membership package that is often overlooked, yet is so critical to our members and their well being.
